has anyone ever removed the upper radiator support for clearance, would you drill out the spot welds and bolt in after?--On Sun, Nov 13, 2016 at 9:31 AM, Richard Kinsley <leroar.kinsley058@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:I use the bolt holes on the front and rear of the heads if I don't have the manifold off. It can be done, Ive never damaged a hood or the car itself leaving the hood in place. I dont remember the last time I took a hood off to remove an engine. If you need more room remove the intake and attach at a lower position. On Sunday, November 13, 2016 8:49 AM, Bill Parker <hemirr@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:
Great idea about making your locating "devices" so it's easy to realign the hood!Thanks,--
I have a cherry picker type lift and have pulled the engine and transmission from my 64 SF, 383 4-speed with it a number of times. As for the hood I drilled about 1/8" holes through the hood hinges into the hood as locators. When I put the hood back on I just line up the holes slide a drill bit in the hole to keep the alignment and bolt it on. The only caution on drilling the holes is to put something on the drill bit when drilling the holes so the bit does not go through to the hood.
To everyone thanks for all of the good suggestions. I have a stack of parts from Gary P. that need to go in the engine and the transmission needs a little work. I'm going to try to get it done this winter.
Taking the engine and transmission out the bottom looks interesting however after the engine and transmission are out I will need to be able to move the car out so it needs to stay on all 4 wheels.
Thanks again to everyone

You can certainty drop the whole thing out the bottom but that means taking apart your front suspension and you'll likely need a lift to pick the car over the engine/trans/k-frame/ suspension.Bottom line out the top as a unit is a tried and true method.Make sure you mark the hood location for pulling it off for easy installation and alignment.Bill MOn Nov 11, 2016 12:55 AM, "dennis.1963ply" <dennis....@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:Hello,--
I'm going to be pulling the engine and transmission out of my 64 Belvedere.
When I pull the 383 and 4-speed transmission out of my 64 SF I can pull them together. Can I do the same with my 64 that has a 318 Poly and 727 automatic? I need to work on both the engine and transmission.
Thanks
