Re: [SPAM] Re: wiper motor question

Here's what I've learned dealing with variable-speed wipers on my '65 Polara:

The motor linkage is designed such that the motor runs one way for normal
wiper operation until you turn the switch to off. The motor then reverses
direction to "park" the wiper blades below the normal area of travel, an
area which can only be reached by running the motor in that direction.

The motor has a switch built into it called the "park" switch which can be
adjusted to set the parking position of the wiper blades. When the dash
switch is off, the "park" switch allows the wipers to run backwards until
the position at which the "park" switch is tripped and then everything is
off.

I believe the service manual includes some basic electrical tests for the
dash switch and other components of the system.

Needing help to get started is likely either a lack of lubrication or worn
brushes on the motor.
