I just had my mechanic upgrade my 64 Barracuda and 64 Fury convertibles to
dual master cylinders. I, Like Akron Don, had a single brake system go out
on a 62 Lancer (great car). Luckily it was on an Akron street and I was
able to coast to the side of the road. Not so good on a highway.
Cost was less than $200 for all new lines, installed, with me providing the dual
MC from eBay for around $50.
Well worth the peace of mind, and better than losing a newly-completed
Mopar and possible life.

When I first got my '65 Belvedere, the emergency brake cable was not
connected. No big deal, I thought. Then one of the brake lines blew. No
brakes. That taught me not only the importance of the emergency brakes (not
just for parking) but of a dual chamber master cylinder.
Unless you are absolutely going for a 100 point show car, convert to a
dual master cylinder. If you do a nice job and tell the judges your life is
not worth that point or two, maybe they'll agree and not hit you up for the
safety upgrade.

Hi,
I'm thinking about to get a "Scarebird" disc brake conversation kit for
the '64 Polara
Q: is it wise to use the single reservoir master cylinder?
Or should I consider a dual reservoir
ps, it's a manual brake system.
