Re: slant six trannies



Another issue with switching to later trans: the recess at the back of the crank of that 65 engine is smaller than the snout on the later torque converter. Simply won't fit unless you change to later crank shaft or find some other way to deal with this issue. Not as big a deal to go the other way (later engine to earlier trans) but big or "no" deal to go later trans to early engine.

Neal...just rebuild the one you have....prolly easier than finding that unique '65 setup.....or switch it all over to the conventional U-joint style.

yep . I am in Oregon. the guy sent me pics and it is in fact a 2 door post. my favorite. I have a whole shop fulll of mopar stuff i would just love to stufff in this thing , dreams of straight axle gasser madness ,but in the meantime I  was just thinking of  getingt it back on the road. I know the 65 is a unique tranny too, so good luck finding one.

Hi all, remember me. I am trapped in "no-mopar" land, trying to find my way back. Anyhoo, I found a 65 dart 2dr hdtp slant six car that runs for 1200 bucks with a good title, and not in too bad of shape really. But the 904  tranny is bad. My question is  does the slant six have  the same bolt pattern as a LA block or is it unique. If its unique I am up the creek.
