There's been discussion of the MOPAR blue voltage regulators being
"for race use only" on several lists for years. Some folks say they
use them in street cars and have good results. I think the blue
regulators are designed for quick recharging between rounds at the
drags and might overcharge in "normal everyday" use. I'm wondering
if the original post, regarding ignition pulsing might be caused by
still using the old points-type voltage regulator that was original
equipment on our cars. The new replacements for the old regulators
look the same as the originals, but have modern solid-state guts.
If the original writer still has the car's original voltage
regulator, replacing it might be the solution. The regulator
featured on Jegs and Summit sites is similar to the later model
(1974 & later, I think) MOPAR regulator and may require wiring
modifications. If the regulator in the original poster's car has large resistors on the underside, it is the old points-style regulator and they work fine with points-style ignitions. Modern, electronic ignitions like solid-state voltage regulators better. Hope that helps. BC On 5/26/2015 3:02 PM,
