BHJ Dynamics make a replacement balancer for the 318, you have a choice of timing mark positions on it. They make them to suit the Poly and also the LA, they aren't particularly expensive though they do have higher performance models if needed.

Do you need SFI certification? I thought that was only for drag strip use?

All, need to know if anyone is running a stock 318 poly timing cover and a SFI balancer? if so what brand of balancer do you have. I purchased one from EBAY but the timing marks on the balancer are located on the driver's side of timing cover whereas the stock Poly marks are located on the passenger side of the cover. I then purchased a later model timing cover with the timing marks cast into the driver's side of the cover but the fit is terrible and will force me to elongate some of the bolt holes to get it to work and I really don't want to use the 50 yr old stock balancer. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
