RE: Tilt Steering Column

Just a side note here, I’m not sure exactly what years but I’ve used a couple of Mopar tilt columns in building street rods and they both required GM steering wheel adaptors to put on an aftermarket steering wheel. I was told that Chrysler tilt columns were actually Saganaw GM columns. Again I’m not sure what years but one column was out of a Cordoba and the other was out of a Dodge truck.

I second what Steve just said. The original "plunge joint" used by Ma Mopar was designed to absorb movement from frame flex which could fail the bearings in the steering column.

Good luck!

Has anyone swapped their stock steering column for a Flaming River or Ididit tilt column?  Of course no one has one designed for a '64 B Body.  Flaming River has a Mopar Floor Shift Tilt Column, but I am not sure what length to get.  My car is away in storage or I could go measure it.  Any advice on a tilt column for power steering?

Thanks so much!
