Friday night update (and good news):
- Removed the carbs and checked the float settings - they were way off. Adjusted floats and rejetted the mains up two sizes. Started it up and got it to idle with timing in the right place (34 degress @3,000 RPM). Struggled a bit to bring the idle down so rejetted up two more sizes. Mains are now 1.100. Running better and better. Got idle down to about 1,450 and was doing a bit more tweaking, then Oops! Ran out of gas! I'll go get some 110 from Sunoco tomorrow and get back at it. Think this will be my final update! Sounding pretty good!
Thanks again for everyone's help...
Jim

You and me both, Paul.
So far here's what's been ruled out:
- Cam timing
- Vacuum leak
- Wiring / firing order
- Distributor
- ECU
I am going after the Eddy carbs this weekend, starting over with the basics, e.g. float settings, mixture screws and working my way into step-up springs and jetting.
I'll fill you in...
Thank you,
Jim

I'll be very interested to find out what the gremlin turns out to be. I've been following this and I'm stumped. Seems like you've checked everything I can think of.
