Hum, to redrill seems like a logical action. No need to buy new. 

Shortage? Mostly it is the "bird in the hand" syndrome in the sense that what car parts you have on hand eliminate the need to spend time and gasoline on obtaining different parts. C-body rear ends are not common like they used to be but still are around. Last one I saw advertised around here, for example, was $250 and required driving 225 miles there and 225 miles back.
