I meant to post this awhile ago but slipped my mind. Was talking to my son who was looking for a roto tiller attachment for his garden tractor. He found one that was going to have to be shipped from some place like So. Carolina to Iowa. He told me Fastenal has a freight program for situations like this. He gave them approx. dimensions erring on the high side. Something like 48" x 48" x 30" & 250 lbs. and was quoted $125, if I remember correctly. (That's why I should have posted this right away.) Anyway the package gets shipped to your local Fastenal jobber and you pick it up there.
This topic comes up here from time to time. So for you guys who are looking to ship a transmission or hood etc. there might be another alternative.
