Man, I think you guys are giving me too much credit for this project.
Thank you for the kudos and I am committed to helping where I can but the
aggregate knowledge of everyone on this and other Mopar Mail Lists makes the
Poly a viable concern.
A bit of background; I was contacted by Roland at Chrysler Power who was
impressed with how much power the Poly engine can make after reading my
posts...and my Poly Stroker build data and the next thing is he wants to cast
the manifold. Roland is the catalyst behind this project and the big
financial risk of taking orders & collecting funds and paying the Foundry;
all the stuff I wouldn’t want to be responsible for – hated accounting but
enjoyed marketing in College. This New Poly manifold is a reality because
all of “you/us” made it possible by backing up our need/request with pre-orders
and I tossed my cash into the pot like the rest of y’all.
I see my name in the Chrysler Power Magazine articles as “Engineer...” but
I am not; just another Polyhead like many of you, but maybe done it a bit
longer; being retired allows me to spend A LOT more time on our Mopar
stuff. I was thrilled when Roland and his Chrysler Power Magazine wanted
to make this happen and since I live in So. Cal. I was invited to attend the
first meetings with Foundry prospects, along with two other people, to bring
some Poly specific knowledge to the project and to influence the design.
Having more Poly parts than a man ought to, I supplied a Poly long block to aid
the REAL engineer, Javier Vasquez, in developing the kind of manifold we all
need. I was privileged to be able to spend the day with him talking about
this manifold and future projects (like the possibility of HP Poly
aluminum heads!) and knew this was the RIGHT person to design a New Poly
manifold. For me working with the Poly engine is “fun” and what retirement
should be, doing what you like but couldn’t afford to when you had a growing
family. Another thrill is meeting all the great people on this list and I
hope to have the opportunity to meet many more of you “in person” as time rolls
on.
In the meantime, I will keep you posted on what I hear/see regarding the
New Poly intake; pattern should be finished the end of this week and then the
“boxes” made for the first castings to be poured...I will give Javier at the
Foundry a call soon and let you know what transpires.
Take care and thank you!
