Re: plastic defroster ducts

Nothing screams "poor workmanship" like wrinkles in duct tape.  Just sayin!

In rain it will last a few weeks, no longer than the silver duct tape.  You could always use it to fill in gaps and fiberglass it then later remove the tape.

As crazy as it sounds black duct tape works well.  I tried epoxy and super glue. the problem is they simply fracture beyond the glued part.  When I "restored" mine, i used a combination of foil HVAC tape and black Duct tape. Both can be purchased at home Depot or Lowes.  The foil tape works very well when forming around the contours and the duct tape is a great "blanket" reinforcement. then used flat black paint for the final color finish. I might have some shots on my home computer to attach this weekend.  Good Luck with your Resto. !!!
