Weatherstriping Adhesive Recommendation

I'm trying to secure the weatherstripping on the convertible top above the 
windshield for my '65 Satellite. It makes a 90 degree turn over each door adding 
a lot of stree to the adhesive and I can't get good adhesion. I have both 3M 
Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive PN 08001 and Permtex Super Weatherstrip  
Adhesive PN 81731. 



Not sure which I tried and failed with but are these the right product or is 
there something better? Or, do I just need to follow the instructions to the 
letter?
