The problem is not a short, its a open circuit at the bulkhead connector or a corrosion at a terminal or a burnt connector or poor connection.A short would blow a fuse or fusible link.If you run a wire from the ignition switch to the coil from the on position of the switch,and it runs normally,the wiring harness is the problem,mrmopartech 450 424 0445

My '64 Sport Fury is still cranking but when the key is returned to the "run"

He says if new ignition doesn't solve the problem there is a short or open connection 
in blue wire between the ignition switch and out to the coil.

When he wired the coil directly to the battery the car starts up normally!

What is the best way to find a short?  Wouldn't it be easier to just replace the 
entire wire following it from the ignition to the coil?
