The radiator cap is a poundage deal, and basically requires X number of
pounds of pressure in radiator before the cap releases and allows coolant to
escape via the overflow tube, and the X factor is the cap rating
no on the thermostat, there will still be vacume in the radiator as things
cool down, most stats have a small hole in them anyway to allow for air to
escape, and even if not the lower radiator hose is also a flow venue

thermostat affect water movement?..................MO
