I just read the message from Knud-erik Bergstein Holm and his engine fire. I am so sorry to hear about the fire, as bad as it was it could have been worse without help from his friends. This was a reality check on installing electric fuel pumps. On my 63 Sport Fury the pump is installed correctly with an oil pressure switch to shut off the fuel pump when there is no oil pressure. I also have a bypass switch that I can use to fill the carb without cranking the engine. I have the stock fuel pump removed and a plate installed on the block. On my 64 Belvedere with a poly I have temporary wiring that runs the fuel pump when the key is on. I'm going to correct this before I drive the car again. I am also pumping through the stock fuel pump. I am now concerned that if I have a diaphram failure in the stock pump the electric pump could pump fuel into the crankcase. I am also going to get fire extinguishers for both cars. Anyone else have any comments on this please pass them on.
