Hardtop Window Seal R&R

I need to replace the vertical seal between the front and rear window on my '65 
Satellite.  I have the seals. The concern is it looks like you need to bend the 
stainless steel bracket at the top to R&R the seal and I don't think I can bend 
it back without a permanent wrinkle.  Anyone done this and can offer any 
pointers/experiences?
