newer 727 on a 64 dodge.440 doesn fit, help

I need help on this: I bought a 64 dodge 440, it comes with a V8
( 273 ? or 318-no poly... ) and has a 727 lever operated tranny
( newer ) . The thing is that I inspected the car and found that the
727 doesnt fit well, it looks to be bigger than the original
pushbutton cable operated 727, am I right with this? or is not well
installed?
No space for the rubber support, no space for the 4 bolts that support
the tranny, just two bolts were possible to install. Please give me an
advise. thanks.
