When changing rearend housings, you definitely have to go with the
flange to flange measurement.  I put a '68 GTX rear in my '63 Sport
Fury after measuring perch and brake backing plates.  Forgot that the
brakes were 1/2 inch wider.  I had 8 inch Keystone Raider wheels on
the back.  After the change, my tires hit the inner fenders.  Sadness.

Anyone have some nice 15 X 7 Keystone Raiders to sell ????

Also, you have to remember that steel wheels will give more positive
clearance than aluminum (or "mag") wheels, due to the increased
thickness at the lug area.
I'm going to be doing something in the wheel/tire situation in the
future, so this question just might come up again................
