Re: Advice and parts needed

Hi Don,

For the most part I am happy, they screwed up a hood chrome strip on my 67 GTX some years ago but to their credit Kashim (the owner) tried his very best to resurrect the part. That is the only negative instance I had but as I alluded to, they tried hard to fix it although it was never right.

All of the 65 stuff they have done is nice, A friend from Southern Indiana sent me his taillight bezels after a local chrome shop there totally mucked them up and Reckon made them show worthy.

You have to understand that plating shops are very labor intensive and EPA nightmares and that is what drives the costs up so high.

Reckon is not cheap but I think they truly care about their customers, they also do pot metal which is very hard to find anyone to do right anymore.

If you call there, ask for Christine, she is the only whom speaks English, the shop is owned by a guy from Pakistan and the majority of worker bees are Burmese refugees, tell her some guy named Joey with a 65 Dodge sent you, she often confuses me a local street rod builder, lol!.

Good Luck with whoever you choose,
Joey

Did you get what you paid for in the rechroming or pay for gold plating?  I'm sure I can get good chrome here in NE Ohio but the prices at the heavy advertising quality shops seem way too high.

Hi Mike,

I used Reckon Plating (1-800-592-4766) in Fort Wayne for years, all of the chrome work on my 65 Coronet was performed there except for the very stupid mistake I made by purchasing aftermarket door handles instead of rechroming the originals. Fellow site member Jason Chance has sent me his stuff from New Mexico to get done also, he is as anal....er, I mean picky as me,LOL!

 Hi fellas and gals,
I am rebuilding the vent window assys. for my 1965 Belvedere 2 Dr Ht and bought some channel liner fabric for it. I purchased some GOOP adhesive to glue it in with-anyone done this? Is there a better product to use? I also need the window latch handles ( extreme pitting ) and top pivot assys. ( through the glass hinges ). The main frames need to be rechromed-any recomendations for good plating shops? Thanks!
