Be sure you know the difference between a Chrysler factory "highway hi-fi " and the aftermarket record players that were available aftermarket......................................MO On Nov 7, 10:37 pm, Jacob Fox <imfast...@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Thanks Jim. Yea it's definitely neat. He sent me a video of it working which is really nice. Either way I might buy it cause it's so cheap they go for 600 bucks on eBay. 150 wouldn't be a bad investment lol. The ac unit really doesn't take up too much it just covers the tranny hump really. I already have a DVD flip out cd player deal in glove box. I was just gonna wire it in so it would work and at car shows play it and stuff bout it. > > Sent from my iPhone > > On Nov 7, 2011, at 10:30 PM, dcdri...@xxxxxxx wrote: > > > > > Jacob,IF possible it would be nice to have both the AC and the 45-record player.I doubt that would work as the AC unit takes up alotta room. The record player would be perfect for shows and such.As for going down the hi-way,install and nice cd unit in the glove box.The record player would attract alot of attention at shows and look great hangin under there not to mention a great conversation piece. But once again I would worry about the under-dash area looking cluttered. What it all boils down to is it is YOUR car to do with as you please so go for whatever you want. > > > Good Luck with your car and future projects. > > > Jim > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: Cory Rempel <cory_...@xxxxxxxxxxx> > > To: 1962to1965mopars <1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > > Sent: Mon, Nov 7, 2011 6:26 pm > > Subject: RE: Under dash or...? > > > Okay, I've voiced my opinion on this very subject with someone else recently. Just get a CD player and here's why I think you should. The sound quality is far superior to that of crappy records. CDs don't skip every time you hit a bump. When a record gets scratched, it's pretty much junk. If you damage a cd you can either fix it relatively cheaply or burn another one. My final two points should hopefully make you see the light. Firstly, on a CD you can fit about 120 songs on it. Even more, depending on song length and bit rate. Now just think of all the records you would have to firstly buy, and secondly, lug around, to equal that many songs. Your back seat would be full of records and your wallet empty of money from buying all those crappy records. My last point is that with an ipod you can have a couple hundred gigs of music playing through you deck in your car. Which, ironically, makes CDs obsolete. I still prefer burning CDs. If you loose or break a CD you're out at most a buck. If you loose or break an ipod your're out way more money and all your mp3's. Thanks for letting me rant. > > > Subject: Under dash or...? > > > From: imfast...@xxxxxxxxx > > > Date: Mon, 7 Nov 2011 14:51:33 -0600 > > > To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > > > > Okay, I've been thinking about future plans for my car. I found a 45 under dash record player on Craigslist mint for super cheap almost ridiculous. I have an under dash ac unit now that doesn't work, not yet at least. I was rolling around some ideas n thought of removing the ac unit, replacing carpet since there's a hole where the condensation would drain, and installing record player in place. Or, just leaving it alone and install player under glove compartment, but I'm afraid it's gonna clutter the front. It's a cool technology not a lot of people have seen n it'd be neat to have.
