Dave, When I was younger ( 45 years Ha! Ha! ) my dad took care of our local school buses ( I spent many Saturdays oiling and greasing buses ), through the school he had access to army surplus tools and parts. Everything came coated in Cosmolene . It was a waxy substance developed to store and ship everything the military used and I believe it would preserve parts FOREVER. I don't know if it is still available or ever was to the public but I can't imagine anything better for preservation. My 2 cents. Mike LeFevre
