The last time I set mine. (AFB) I set with vacuum guage. Basically started at initial idle screw adjustment. Hooked the vacuum guage to one of the ports on the base of the carb. Then started adusting each side. Back the screw out a bit, and let vacuum catch up. Eventually that side will stop increasing the vacuum. Then bring it in about 1/16th of a turn at a time until vacuum starts to go down. Once it goes down, turn it back to the last location before the vacuum started to degrade. Then adjust the other side. Back to the first side, and back to the second side. (to double-check). Then give it a test drive. If not acceptable. Try again or fiddle with the timing. This combined with the advancing the timing, a degree or two either way, until I have that dialed in with the carb. What is your timing currently set at? Vacuum Can on the distributor working? When you disconnect the vacuum advance to time the engine, does the idle go down? (It should) If not, could be a vacuum advance is needed. --Tom On Sep 21, 3:07 am, Jacob Fox <imfast...@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Hey Tom, it's a BBD carb. He showed me dozens of times how to do it and I never could get it right. All the tips you guy say, I heard him say it all. I have to take it to a local carb shop for them to fine tune it, when I mess with them. > > -- > > Eric > > Tacoma, WA > > 1962 Chrysler Newport 2 door HT > > > -- > > -- > > Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
