The 'sludge' you are referring to and the ZDDP
level in the oil are 2 different topics. If you read the other posts you will no
that neither have it in there.

concerning Pennzoil,I've had 3 diff mechanics{all with 30+years of
experience} tell me that it is fine AS LONG AS your doing alot of hiway
driving BUT with just driving around town you will get nothing but alot of
sludge buildup..All of the engines I've opened up that use Pennzoil and in
town driving have been full of CRAP ie. sludge...I use nothing but Castrol in
my 96 INDY Ram &99 Durango, both have over 100,000+ miles with No oil usage
and both run great.Still have to watch my right foot work with the
INDY{factory headers,perf computer,K&N air filter,390gears and a hell of
alotta torque}also will still cook ythe tires when asked too
loland with the Durango being a 4 wheeldrive even it will cook the rear tires
with a heavy right foot lol I've had very good luck with
Castrol and use it in all my cars.I know all of these are ALOT newer than our
other toys but I would use it in anything i have. JMO

Like discussed in this thread
earlier.....Pennzoil and Quaker State are both Paraffin based
oils......and someone here said it right when they said....."You might as well
just pour candle wax in your engine" LOL

I
found a couple zddp additive products at O'Reilly's. The one I choose is
Rislone Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment. Not too expensive. I also
use the Valvoline VR-1 20-50 racing oil. I did originally use Shell Rotella
but changed when they dropped the ZDDP.

I haven’t seen any quality additives with ZDDP in them at the local
parts chain stores; Lucas might have a product that will help but your
best bet is to find/order the product with a proper amount of
ZDDP...
You aren’t going to ruin your engine with any of the mult-vis oils
you have listed...not an issue for procrastination and you will know when
you try one. Generally, a high mileage engine will require a
thicker/heavier oil because of the increased clearances due to wear.

are your thoughts on going with a 20-50- wieght over a 30 or 10-30 weight.

Jacob,
Correction;
the Syntech 20-50 IS a full synthetic...I guess the e-mail went out
before I could delete and re-write.
Anyhow, a full synthetic
usually finds all the small/micro gaps in our gaskets...but that is
with zero to 5W oils; this being a 20-50W should not pose a real
problem but with your mileage you may want to run the ZDDP
additives. Do a cost analysis for the miles you drive and if
they are low miles you may want to continue using your current oil
with the ZDDP additives on the market and save the full synthetic oil
for after a rebuild.

and it takes forever. Ive just always been so worried
about switching to 20-50 especially a synthetic. It's never below
freezing down here...maybe one day in January MAYBE. idk...if
someone wants to give an honest opinion let me know...I wanna do
what's best for that ol' gal! I'm going on a roadtrip this weekend

Time
for me to change oil in the '63 too. Can't bring myself to

one more time, is there an oil out there with the right
additives? Or, what/where do we find the additive. Product
name? Thanx
