Re: Went BoneYardin

I know what you mean, I guess it was about 20 years ago when the Japanese started buying up all the scrap they could get....the older stuff got crushed cause it weighed a lot more than the newer stuff.
I can still remember when all the travelling crushers started showing up round here......sucked.
No you gotta go bone yardin every couple of weeks to the newer "run" yards just to catch the older stuff cause it don't stay around more than a couple of weeks.
They love it when they see a 70s New Yorker or something similar come in.

Ken,
The last I heard they meet at Wendys on Curry Ford Rd. I am in Alabama now so haven't been there for a little while. We used to meet in Casselberry at Bob Evans. Most of the boneyards have a lot of later model and not many if any Mopars. Mighty Mopars website was on Geocities and shut down when Geocities closed. I dont know if they ever setup another one. George Barg used to be very active in the meetings and website. He lives down by Valancia CC south of Union Park Ryans. He.s got a couple early 70's D-100 trucks. Rick Senkow was the president last I heard. He lives west of Kissimee. If I hear more I can get info to you.

I still live near Speed World, but the last time I hit the junk yards around here there weren’t a lot of old Mopars. Do the Mighty Mopars still meet?

Where on the east side do you live? Up until 4 years ago I lived near Speed World in junkyard heaven. My 62 Dodge W-300 fire truck was an Orlando truck til I bought it over 20 years ago. I was a member of the Mighty Mopars of Orlando til I moved.

There main yard which is not a yard but a storage warehouse.....is now in Deland...Brent stores all his private stuff there. They had multiple yards 30 years ago, all on the small side, I never went to the one you mentioned....I lived in East Orlando the and dealt mostly with Jenny but there was another one out by where the international airport there 10 years before they built the airport and I used to go there quite a bit.
I went there one day and there was a KR500 Shelby Mustang sittin out front in pretty good shape so I asked about it and they said it runs...wanna take a test drive....HELL YEA.....it was an auto but fun to drive....just handed the keys and cut me loose.
Came back and asked how much they wanted for it.....$500.00.....crap I was early 20s, new baby and not very good paying job.....did not have the bucks and could not come up with them but it sure was fun driving that car.
I guess moral is....they had so many yards and depends who ran the yard as far as pricing but the owner has ALWAYS been high.....I got another story bout him for later.

When I lived in Central Florida Airport towing has always had old Mopars. Getting them was like pulling teeth. They used to be located on Narcoosee Trail near OIA and had an old Florida Highway Patrol car on display outside their building. They also handle the towing at the airport. Expensive towing and expensive parts too. That is why they have the cars. I don't think they want to sell them unless the ownership changed. Just a little tid-bit from living in Central Florida for 30+ years.

Never did find a manual steering box but found plenty of power units.
