Thanks Gary & Mike. Good tip Mike. No, I did not watch the timing light when I tested the vacuum advance. I did check the dwell and the test indicated that the points were too far apart. I reset the points so the dwell is 30. Then I checked the timing and it is 10 degrees at idle. If I increase the engine RPMs the timing light shows it advancing. I did not have a chance to road test the car yet though.
