Hi all, The 383 in my 64 Windsor (Newport south of the 49th) has a cam which requires a higher idle than usual, in park I have to have it about 1000rpm's so that it will not stall out when I put it in gear. When I do put it in gear, it engages very hard and pulls the rpm's down to around 700. Is this directly related to the stall in the converter? I don't know what converter is in the car, probably whatever was behind the 361 that was originally in the car, if I were to put in a higher stall converter would that "loosen" it up a bit? I have a lead on a 10.75" factory high stall converter and flexplate, think that would help? With the cam in the car it really doesn't come to life until the revs get up there, I have no idea what the cam spec's are but even with 3.55 gears until the revs get up out of the hole the wifes minivan would blow me away...
