I'm a big fan of make it look stock, but doesn't have to run that way. I
certainly don't mind the aftermarket dress-up parts you'll probably
never
see anything but a chrome air cleaner on any of my cars...just my taste.
And as far as parts "must satisfy the HP & Torque
goals.requirements...before adding glitz" and I agree 100%. Valve
covers,
braided hoses, etc. don't make it go faster which is why I won't buy
them,
besides personal taste. I'm not saying dress-up stuff doesn't look
good if
done right, but most aftermarket stuff like that is just not for me. I'd
much rather spend my precious few dollars on something that will make it
faster. Just my $0.02

I think the parts & components added to any engine build must first
satisfy
the HP & Torque goals/requirements of the engine before adding glitz or
"show" that doesn't make it go any faster.
The glitz or show addition, in my opinion, should be commensurate
with the
value or expense of the engine; $500 for covers added to a $5000+
engine
would make sense to me if one could afford it.
