Steve,
The car started as a stock 273/904 500. About ten years ago, I started a
complete restoration and it morphed into a race inspired setup. I loved the race car on the street look, but what a pain to drive on the street. This past fall, I decided to have the paint redone without the graphics. I also removed the A990 grille, hood with scoop, battery in trunk, battery shutoff, A990 inspired 727 trans and associated cooler, headers, etc. I installed my stock hood, 1969 GTX exhaust manifolds, moved the battery back to its stock location, pulled the 4.10 in favor of a 3.23. I am just finishing up the 833 trans swap and my original grille is supposed to be completed at the polisher's later this week. I kept the 496 stroker, but repainted it the old aqua color and changed the rocker covers
from the fabricated aluminum (no longer fit with manifolds) to an old Direct
Connection set that I had. Still have the SS springs set into the longitudinals
as well as the mini tubs, but they aren't "in-your-face" obvious. The engine
really should be de-cammed now, but I think that I am going to wait a bit on
that. I have the base model tail lights and trunk letters replacing the 500
stuff as they were too far gone to be serviceable. I also removed the 500 wheel well and rocker panel trim. I am giving serious consideration to replacing the prostars with custom width steelies in order to look more "period". Not sure yet on that. The car is also set up as a radio and heater delete ride. I am hoping
that this will be a more pleasent street machine now with the same flavor of
the super rides that I saw cruising Woodward and Telegraph back in 1965. This renovation should be completed in about two weeks. I've been at it every day.
Good thing that I am retired.

Get America back to work.
Buy American.
Hire American.

Hi John, It's always good to have another "voice " on the mail list. I am very
interested in how your car was set up and how it will be when done. I am
building a 1964 Dodge as I would have done it in the mid 60's. Similar to yours
as a nostalgic Street machine. Welcome back..........................MO

John's email was blank to most as apparently it was sent with the Yahoo mail settings to rich text instead of plain text. I am resending his email below.

Welcome back John!

From: John Sanders:

Just want to say hello to everyone on the site.
I did belong years ago but got side tracked.
I am currently converting my '65 Coronet from a
strip/street car to a more street friendly ride
with a period nostalgic (Woodward Ave./Telegraph Rd.)
street race flavor.
