Re: Automatic Transmission Question

I agree 100% with Joseph. My 727 does the same thing, Had a 65, C-4 Ford that did the same thing.
After the spring fill-up and driving more regulary....no leaks.
So far the 904 in the Petty car has not done it. BUT..it gets started alot as it sits under my lift and is moved alot.
Don't worry about it...my $.02

the torque converter leaks down and then it will seep out
of the pan gasket or dipstick tube my fury does the same thing when parked for long periods it is common on 727 trannys of the 60's cars as i have heard of this from numerous people i just refill my tranny in the spring very seldom leaks if it is driven weekly but over the winter she marks her spot

I have a simple question about a 727 in my 64
Plymouth. The car is on
the edge between a parts car and a driver and currently it
is not being
driven often.

When it sits for a few weeks I have to keep a pan under the

transmission, I'll get a good puddle of trans fluid.

I finally put it on jack stands and decided to try to find
the leak. I
have the car level as it would be on the wheels. I
checked the fluid
running in neutral and it was 1/2 pint low. I checked
the oil level
after a couple of weeks without starting it and now it is 2
1/2" above
the full mark.

Is this normal and if not is the torque converter leaking
down and
overfilling the transmission?

So far I have not had the time to get under the car and try
to find
where it is leaking from.

Thanks
Dennis C.
