I am starting to put the figures together for getting new gears for my 65 Coronet.
I checked my parts book for 1965 Dodges, etc. At the top of the page for the differential sections it states that the number on the yoke
would be one of the following for V-8s. 1820 657 or 2070 741 would indicate a Pinion Shaft diameter of 1 3/8" 1634 985 or 2070 742 would indicate a Pinion Shaft diameter of 1 3/4"I quickly located the numbers on the drivers side and they read 2070 741. So much for running a good load of Nitro with Hydrazine!
Question is can I get back in the game by switching to an 1 3/4" shaft in the same carrier by using a smaller bearing or do I have to go to a new carrier with 1634 985 or 2070 742?
I priced a new carrier from Moser, complete set up, and it was a shocker.
Hoping to buy just a larger shaft. I appreciate the info you gave me on the drum breaks.
