How to find a leak in a gas tank

All,

I'm pretty sure I have a leak in my gas tank but am having trouble finding
it. It isn't big enough to drip and I think what escapes evaporates before I
can see it. Garage always smells of gas.

I've had the tank out once before to install a new float so taking it out
doesn't scare me - just not sure what to do with it once it's out.

As always, thanks in advance.

Regards,
Brian
