Hi All, Sorry for chiming in so late on this one, I've been away for a few days (Vintage Mopar power-camping, more on that later). Anyway, the 4 bolt covers were used up through 1963. The 6 bolt covers and matching heads were released in 1964 to address leaks in the lower corners of the covers. There are a few suppliers of chrome valve covers out there, and you get what you pay for. Many of the cheaper sets are designed to use GM style grommets and fittings - OE Mopar stuff won't work. I just called Mancini and the new "Direct Connection" offerings fall into this category. Shop carefully. Many of the cheaper sets are also very, very thin, and don't seal well without additional clamps, etc, and I've also had some that the bolt holes don't even line up. I haven't had the new DC pieces in my hand yet, so I can't comment on those specifically. If anyone knows of a source for the old style heavy steel chrome covers with Mopar fittings, I'd appreciate hearing about it. As suggested, you may do well to have your originals chromed. Looks like that might be the best way to go right now. Someone mentioned to me once that was selling a 64 w/383 that the valve covers were a one (1) year item. I don't know why. My 64 361 has 6. It's the same heads right? Maybe there is some pcv valve or something else that makes them different and not the mounting holes????
