when I refreshed the paint on my 64 Custom 880, I found a paint that was  
close to the original.  I sprayed the entire piece then went over it with a  
lacquer thinner to remove the paint from the chrome areas (high spots)  It  
came out beautifully and very close to original condition. I did this to the 
 ribbed areas on the front grill and rear panel, but you can do the same to 
the  dash.  Good luck to you.  Dayv
