The 65 column shift cars have no rooster comb, so if one is supplied, as suggested by using a 62 unit, it will work.
I have done it twice, and have not broken anything. The console shift rooster comb is different from the push button unit. Jimmy Steven Charette wrote:
Hi Guys, Rooster combs (manual valve detent levers) are different for pushbutton and column/console adapters. The pushbutton rooster comb set has a 1/4" hole for the adapter, and the adapter itself has a 1/4" shank and is attached with a nut. Column and console rooster combs have a 3/16" hole for the adapter, and the adapter has a 3/16" pin with a groove for an e-clip. I know somebody made a nice page with photos on the website someplace... That said, the console/column pieces work with pushbuttons, but using pushbutton valve body pieces on a car with a console or a column will result in broken parts. That's it. The rooster comb is really all you'll need, unless I'm forgetting something. ed keaton wrote:What do I need to do to make a 65 trans work in a 62 dart pushbutton?
