RE: Ignition change benefits

I installed the petronix unit & coil in my 63 Sport Fury with a 361 at least
6 or 7 years ago and have had flawless operation! I cant say it runs that
much better than a well tuned point setup but it is a lot more dependable
with extended plug life and no points to adjust again. My gas mileage is
better, and I haven't touched an ignition part in the 6 or 7 years eather.
The friend of mine that talked me into converting has had his for about 15
years in his 68 Road Runner with faultless operation. Just Do Not Remove
the green tape around the base of the rotor!!! It holds the magnets in the
slots that tell it when to fire. I like them so much they are in all my
cars that use a distributor with 0 problems. As far as parts most speed
shops at least in this area carry the parts, if in doubt get an extra rotor
and throw it in your glove box, that's all I have heard any complaints about
and mostly people removing the tape to see what is under it. Also if your
going to show your car as stock they will deduct points for a MoPar
electronic ignition pre 71 cars or with any external aftermarket unit. The
petronix unit is all internal in the stock distributor & the coil with the
sticker removed looks as stock as can be. Don't ask don't tell!

Bill, I have a stock 361 with stock dist. and points. I was thinking of
putting in the petronix. Does it add alittle better performance? And I also
heard that they can go bad. (as can the points) John Wask....
