The 426 wedge in my 64 has a stamp pad marked 426 MAR, which means it a marine block. I would bet that the motor was changed at some time! Just like mine was. I would know because I'm the one who bought the motor from a friend who pulled the motor from the boat. Had to get a 440 crank, heads and new cam to put the motor in the car. That is how mine was marked. --- On Wed, 12/23/09, Bill Watson <wwatson6@xxxxxxx> wrote: > From: Bill Watson <wwatson6@xxxxxxx> > Subject: Re: 1965 500? > To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx > Date: Wednesday, December 23, 2009, 4:34 AM > > > No - it's a 426 wedge, a street wedge, but not a "street" > wedge (aka > hi-perf), according to the numbers given. > > ab de > i > x z > 80 35 > 3 9 > 2 > > body trim > paint > s.o.number > w42 p4r > > bb1 > 40608106 > > > > SO NUMBER > 406 08106 where "406" is the scheduled build date, > Thursday, 06 April 1965 > > BODY : W42 > W - Dodge Coronet > 4 - 500 > 2 - 2-door hardtop > > TRIM : P4R > P - Style - Bucket seats > 4 - Material - Vinyl > R - Colour - Red > > PAINT : BB1 > B - Roof colour - Black > B - Body colour - Black > 1 - Style - Monotone > > AB = Engine : 80 : 426-cid V8, 10.3:1 c/r, 365hp > > D = Transmission : 363 : 4-speed, floor shift > E = Heater : 405 : Heater/defroster > I = Power Equipment : 3 > X = Interior : 439 : Console > Z = ?? : 2 > > If you wanted a 426 with high compression and lots of > power, you got a hemi > 426 in 1965, not a wedge 426. > > > Bill > Vancouver, BC > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Gary H." <spigot2039@xxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Tuesday, December 22, 2009 7:29 AM > Subject: 1965 500? > > > > > > Any thoughts: is this Dodge as *rare* as the seller > claimed? > > > > http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190357455319&ssPageName=ADME:B:EF:MOTORS:1123 > > > > Thanks, > > Gary H. > > > > > > > ---- > Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one > person -- directly to that person.
