RE: 59 Distrib Swap

I agree with the suggestions for using Pertronix.  I used their billit 
distributor in my 383, I would not do that again, it is larger in 
diameter however I did get it to fit.  I should have converted a 
standard distributor.

It has the Ignitor III internals that I do like and highly recommend.  
It will fire any coil down to 0.32 ohm, has an internal rev limiter and 
does not use a ballast resistor or separate ignition box.

If you are interested call them and ask about the following parts to see 
if they fit your distributor:

71381A  Ignitor III module
44011   Coil, black 0.32 ohm

I did have a problem with mine and the warranty replacement was 
immediate.

This may not be an option for you but I left my ballast resistor on the 
firewall and just bypassed it with a jumper.  I also carry a stock coil 
and point type distributor in the trunk.  I like electronics but don't 
trust them.  

I have a 4-speed and really like having the rev limiter and electronic 
ignition performance without having a separate ignition box.  My 63 did 
not come with electronic ignition and I don't want to see it under the 
hood.
