Rich--"slippage in the driveline." My thought is that I have heard torque
converters are not created equal. Not only are they set up for a higher
stall speed , but also some brands are better at the amount of "slippage"
than others. I think I read that In Don D.s "Old

I did the calc's on top speed in my gears and the formulas say I can do
77mph in 2d with the tire/ratio set-up I am using now. I'm turning
between 69 and 70. I go thru the traps at or above 6000rpm's according
to my cheapy tach. Perhaps it's lying to me? Or there is slippage in the
driveline.
Anyway I am thinking I should try shifting sooner, like 5000rpm. I did
it once last week on my final run and I had a 9.765@xxxxx which was my
second best for the night. I don't trust single runs for a definitive
answer though. However I do feel I may be holding it too long in each
gear so it's kinda tapering off at the top. It does pull real good at
the shift. It always chirps strong on the 1-2 shift especially.
Any thoughts?
