RE: color I.D. red

I am not making a suggestion, just telling you what I did with my 63 SF.

I wanted red and as much as possible the original red.  I wanted a 
single stage paint, I did not want the look of a base coat, clear coat 
paint and I wanted something that a local body shop could match and 
repair if needed.

To make matters worse a good friend and body man in Lowell Arkansas did 
my body work and paint and he does not like red!  According to him there 
are too many variations of red from cheap looking to totally wrong for a 
vintage car.  Last but not least he does not like to spray red.  I guess 
I should add that I am color blind and althoght I see red fine it may 
not be exactly like someone else may see red.

We settled on a stock Dodge Ram pickup red, I don't have my notes here 
but it may have been 2005 or so.

I like the color very much, it may not be correct for the car but it 
works for me.  It is single stage and I have already had comments on it 
looking right for the car.

I just finished a 4000 mile trip from Yuma to Arkansas and Nebraska and 
back to Yuma, I'll be checking on touch-up paint, I have a couple of 
rock chips but the car was built to drive.

Good luck with yours.  Again not a recommendation, just what I did.
