This whole episode is pretty sad, so many problems and mistakes by so many people. You do wonder why they didn't stop making cars when people stopped buying them and inventory piled up unsold. It seems the auto business is the only one I know that keeps making product and spending money even without sales of the product coming in. That is bad business, they should have shut down all the assembly lines and worked off the inventory over the last 6 months instead of spending billions. If these are union rules, then not sure that problem will change now that the UAW owns Chrysler. The thought of Fiat, which makes junky econoboxes, making my Challenger I was planning on buying later this year is not reassuring. I suspect I may have to look at the Shelby GT500 or the new Camaro instead. I would not have a lot of confidence in a company owned by the Italians, the UAW, and Obama.
