Ron,Tire story and the wound to prove it...love the honesty !! There is a place in heaven for you. My crazy tire story..at 15 years old worked for a Firstone Tire Shop on Saturday. We sold full service gas (hope up all remember the days, I was the kid that sold you a qt of oil when u really didn't need it ). Thats all that really happened on Sat. Maybe a oil change. I was the only guy there at 10 AM, a woman came in and bought a full set of tires and balance. WOW< I made the sale !!! No problem for a high stepper like me. Thank goodness she lived just around the corner, was walking home and call her when finished and she would pick up the vehicle. Ollie jumps on the job. Car on the lift..first wheel off and to the tire machine machine we go. Keep in mind this is a early 60's Ford. I screw the wheel down, outside side up (hub cap side), break the bead both sides......hey we rocking and rolling now. Put the bar under the tire bead..hey we going now...1/2 way round the machine bogs down and quits . One hour later with no progress, tire still on the wheel ... I really begin to ponder... I have figured the only way to get this tire off is with a hack saw. This ain't right!! I only hope the woman does not show up right now !!! In sheer panic... I call The Boss. Son, he says, thats a FORD... turn the wheel over, upside down to make it easy for you to understand,... and get after it!! Never had a problem after that...hey..there are wide and narrow sides inside a wheel, sure makes it easy to get a tire off if you use the narrow side !!!. Ron, made it thru that one with only wounded pride !! PLUS.. the Boss did jump on me for ruining a recappable casing..hope some still remember those days....

Been there done that. Have you ever had a tire iron slip off the bead whiletaking a tire off of the rim on a coats tire machine? Some how found a tooth. Still have most of the tooth, and looked really quick to see if anyone was looking. Learned a good lesson that day. Happened in 1972, but one of those lessons not forgotten. It was a hobby job and I enjoyed it. I got the car on the hoist. I positioned the big drain pan (which was way to small) and started loosening the bolts. Nothing was leaking so I just kept going and removed all but one. Then I loosened it and of course it was on the far side from me. It was still stuck so I gave it a tap and of course it popped right off! Of course it also allowed 90% of the pretty hot fluid to run right down inside the front of my shirt! I was well lubricated. My boss and a youngman working there got a pretty big laugh out of it. I gotta admit it was funny.
