I finished the shield for my oil filter tonight. It looks great and 
should work well. I have some insulating material that comes with 
refrigeration fittings that is similar to asbestos in that it is used to 
shield the area around a fitting as it is brazed/soldered. I made the 
aluminum shield to fit vertically from the engine about halfway around 
the filter. I used weatherstrip adhesive to glue the material to the 
inside of the heat shield so it was between the shield and the filter. 
Then I secured it around the middle to the fillter with a big hose 
clamp. It really looks nice and I gotta think it'll work fine. I needed 
something as my TTI's made the fiter so hot it burned half the label off 
it. 

I didn't have room to pop rivet the shield to the clamp with spacers. I 
tried but then I couldn't get it on the filter. Too tight an area.
