To me , building a car is an art form. Art is expressed creativity. Instead of the hoity toity, we are the artists with grease under our fingernails. I used to build and paint custom motorcycles--No profit , but really enjoyed it for a while. I got my 56 Chrysler about 5 years ago and told my wife befor I bought it, that it would probably be my last project. The old bones and muscles don't work as well as they used to. But the mind is younger than it should be ( I still think I am handsome with my pot belly and bald head) So-- I'm thinking , some respectable power and a 4 speed in a Mopar of my youth would sure be a blast! So--"Honey, just one more build , It will be my last." Unless of course I hit the lottery and then I will get someone eles to do the achey- breaky work...........................MO......sw iowa ----- Original Message ----- From: <roger@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

And for sure if you drive her she's never done weather u buy or build..like for instance after paint my guy didn't tighten the door handles w lock washers. Now they about to fall off and I gotta take those brand new door panels off. Sorry bout your back Dan. Myself I have a crushed disk and it makes car work very slow so I can relate.

I believe Ringo was the lead singer and the lyric goes "Will you still need me, Will you still feed me, When I'm sixty-four?" I should know because I've been singing it to my younger wife since my 64th birthday last November. Well I'm retired and now have the time (but no money) and although I've been doing what I can to work on my own cars since I was a teenager I just can't do it anymore. Just keeping them clean has become a pain. Literally, I'm scheduled for lower back surgery at the end of this month. If the surgery goes ok I've decided I'd like to have a 4-speed again before I go to that great highway in the sky so I'm thinking of selling or trading my 63 Fury convert for a 4-speed Mopar. But one thing for sure, it will be a turnkey car and no more project vehicles. I just want something I can drive. I go to a lot of cruises and shows and half the fun is getting there. Don't get me wrong I admire anyone who still works on there own cars, Been there and done that but I just can't do it anymore. Although I have to agree with a couple of the other comments, there's no such thing as a done car. There's always something to fix or upgrade or that you want to do to make it your own. Hi all - I'd like to present the other side of the argument. There was a time I loved nothing more than getting my hands dirty building and fixing cars. Back in the day I could probably have built a big block MOPAR blindfolded. But I've done enough of that in my life that the fun has worn out. Now I much prefer to drive the cars. And besides, at this stage in my life(I'm 64 - wasn't there a Beatles song something like that?) I have more spare money than I have spare time. I don't even have time to drive my cars as much as I'd like. I think it's great that some like to build cars. Frankly if they didn't I wouldn't be able to buy them. But to me building isn't fun any more but driving still is. Obviously just my opinion but there are definitely two sides to this question. Ron '64 Sport Fury 440/727 '63 Sport Fury 383/727
