I don't think the electronics messed with timing till the "Lean Burns" came out. I remember lending an orange box to a kid pitted next to me many years ago at Thunder Valley. He had a 400 in a Satellite with no tach and apparently didnt shift till it quit. Floated the valves on his run and lost 1st round. Tried to warn him. His had died and I let him use it to drive home with the agreement he would send it back to me. Never saw it again. Oh well.
