It should not be a problem that the distributor is going backwards. Its just
a matter of where to put the sparkplug wires I think?

If the  cam is going backwards does the dist go backwards or is the dist 
drive modified to prevent it? Do you suppose an aftermarket gear drive 
with the idlers would be adaptable? Hmmm.
