No problem upgrading but don't get to aggressive, unless you are replacing the whole wiring harness. More amps, More stress, on the old system, meaning you will be stress testing any weaknesses in the old wiring harness and they will show up!! If you get an alternator with two field leads or three wires and the new harness is sill two wire just ground one of the field wire leads ether internally if your familiar with the inner workings or externally if not and it will work just fine. ---Original Message------- From: Rich Kinsley Date: 1/25/2009 9:20:04 AM To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Alternator upgrade ? Is there a good choice for an alternator upgrade for my poly? Mine's Only a 35amp stock one. I figure I'll upgrade now while I'm doing the Wire harness. Mine is just a single pulley and a two wire.
