I'll probably get flamed for this but... As a HONDA & MAZDA owner, I personally would not buy and "American" CAR right now because I DO think the imports are much better built and longer lasting vehicles. I don't like saying this but it's the truth. When was the last time you saw a Neon, Cavalier, or Escort still going needing almost $0 invested in repairs (except for maintenance items) over it's lifetime, be unbelievably reliable, and still get 30 MPG every tank @ 250,000 miles with the original clutch like my 92 Accord?!?!?! I never have personally. I'm proud to say I own 5 American made vehicles (4 Dodge, 1 Ford), but both my and my wife's daily drivers are imports. When we recently looked for a daily driver replacement for the wife's Cherokee (which we LOVE), we ONLY seriously looked @ Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Mazda. Bang for the buck, the US auto makers just can't compete with the Imports right now for mileage and longevity. PERIOD. But I'm supposed to buy a vehicle only on the basis that it's American made? That's just stupid and throwing money away! I'd rather stand in a cold shower tearing up $100 bills Bill M 65 Coronet 500 'vert, 73 Dart Sport 00 Cherokee Sport, 01 Dakota SLT, 21 Model T Depot Hack, 92 Accord, 03 Mazda 3 S On Thu, Oct 23, 2008 at 9:50 AM, Don Dulmage <big-d@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > Well I am not ready to throw in the towel yet! Analysts as a rule know nothing anyway otherwise the world would not be in its current financial mess. The opera aint over till the fat lady sings . How about this senerio. Remember GM is tryimg to buy Chrysler. WHY? GM has no money and has been losing billions for about the last 8 years bar maybe one or two. Chysler on the other and has cash in the bank. As in all wars , econmic or real it is the third column. the people who destroy their own country from within that are the real threat. Until we as Americans and Canadians learn to support our own countries or Nrth American products and countires in general we will never win this war. The people to thank fr this are the Nissan , Mazda, Toyota, BMW, VW Kia Honda owners. And donttell me they are better cars. That is just uniformed media hype.
