A 4 speed starter relay does not have a lead for a neutral start wire.
Messing with the factory set-up in the other '65 Satellite with the
original 65 727, it only starts in Park, not neutral. I guess that's
correct.
I think I'll study the discussion in the 62-65 tech section and apply
those set-up methods. If I have to drop the tranny pan, so be it.
Shouldn't lose too much blood (tranny fluid.)

You said that the 4sp relay works just fine. Is that working so that it only starts in park or neutral. If so then you either don't have the other switch grounded or it is defective.

Don,
It sounds like the NS Switch is not making proper contact with the rooster comb. There are some tips at the bottom of
http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/transtech.html (#2) that may provide you a workaround thought or clue, though they are not specifically for a lever 727.
Thanks,

I converted my '65 to a later model 727. Formerly this was a 4 speed
car. I've installed the correct started relay and ran a wire to an
original '65 neutral start switch. I switch out a starter relay from a
running '65 727. In both cases, I can not get the started to turn in
any gear including park or neutral. Put the 4 speed relay back in and
works fine.
Any suggestions on what to check? How do you bench test the neutral
start switch? Is there difference (besides it's a one versus a two or
three pin unit) between the later model switch and the '65 that is
causing me these problems?
Could the position of the cable setting be just missing the PARK pointer
on the rooster comb in the case? When I installed the cable and adjusted
it, I just jambed the tranny in park and locked the cable there. Maybe
that's the problem but it seems to hit all the gears correctly.
I'm going to take it to the strip tomorrow for its first run with the
new Comp Cams and I don't want to be denied. HELP.
