Problem with Neutral Start Switch Set-up

I converted my '65 to a later model 727. Formerly this was a 4 speed car. I've installed the correct started relay and ran a wire to an original '65 neutral start switch. I switch out a starter relay from a running '65 727. In both cases, I can not get the started to turn in any gear including park or neutral. Put the 4 speed relay back in and works fine.

Any suggestions on what to check? How do you bench test the neutral start switch? Is there difference (besides it's a one versus a two or three pin unit) between the later model switch and the '65 that is causing me these problems?

Could the position of the cable setting be just missing the PARK pointer on the rooster comb in the case? When I installed the cable and adjusted it, I just jambed the tranny in park and locked the cable there. Maybe that's the problem but it seems to hit all the gears correctly.

I'm going to take it to the strip tomorrow for its first run with the new Comp Cams and I don't want to be denied. HELP.
